TRB Webinar: Prevention of Moisture-Induced Damage in Asphaltic Pavements

Start: Wednesday January 30, 2013 - 6:00 pm
Stop: Wednesday January 30, 2013 - 8:00 pm
Location: Webinar
Description:

TRB will conduct a webinar on January 30, 2013, from 12:00 p.m-2:00 p.m ET that will provide an overview of potential risks for enhanced moisture-induced damage and practices for preventing damage by examining pavements used in Europe and the United States. Participants must register in advance of the webinar, and there is a fee for non-TRB Sponsor employees. A certificate for 2 Professional Development Hours (PDH) will be provided to attendees who register and attend the webinar as an individual.

Moisture-induced damage in asphalt concrete wearing surfaces may have detrimental consequences for the long-term mechanical performance and safety of pavement. Even though this problem has been acknowledged for some time, many aspects of it are unknown and, as a consequence, current characterization methods are not producing reliable predictions of moisture-susceptibility. In addition, there are many concerns and questions regarding the moisture-induced damage performance of warm-mix asphalt mixtures due to the lower mixing and compaction temperatures.

This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Committee on Characteristics of Bituminous-Aggregate Combinations to Meet Surface Requirements, AFK40.
