ERTICO has selected Dublin to host the 9th European Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Congress in The Convention Centre in June 2013.
ITS Ireland led the bid for this conference and were assisted by The Convention Centre Dublin, the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport, Dublin City Council, the National Roads Authority, the National Transport Authority, ESB eCars, Enterprise Ireland and many others. The combined support of all stakeholders enabled us to beat off strong competition from several other European cities for this prize.
ERTICO – ITS Europe is a multi-sector, public / private partnership pursuing the development and deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS). ITS, as the application of information communications technology to mobility, can make travel and transport safer, more efficient and more sustainable.
This prestigious European ITS event will bring in excess of 2,000 delegates into Dublin and provides an opportunity for indigenous Irish companies to showcase state-of-the-art products, applications and deployments in ITS to a global audience. The conference will also provide an opportunity for Irish ITS stakeholders to share information and to network with the wider European ITS community.
“With smaller budgets these days, it is vital that we explore ways to leverage and improve our existing transport infrastructure,” said David O’Keeffe, chairperson of ITS Ireland. “This important European conference will put the spotlight on Irish industry and help to create opportunities and much-needed jobs in the transport technology sector.”
